2014 , Denim

The project explores the history of denim material, with a focus on Native American culture of the19th century.

In my denim project I wanted to discover and unravel the Native American way of life, in particular, their ongoing struggle to survive and maintain ownership and rights over their land. While researching this project, the strongest feeling that emerged was that of understanding of the suffering of the Native American people.  They suffered and were killed because of their land, because no one saw them there as the owners of the land, the people of the land.

The following pieces wish to be the silent scream on behalf of the Native American people and their suffering.
